IDouble Stack : Arguably the state of the art Rollerblock configuration at this time, especially when used with the state of the art Grade 3Superball upgrade. The Double Stack system uses an additional set of Series 2 bodies, inverted, placed on top of the ball bearing. Thus, a "sandwich" is formed with a block body on top and bottom, and a ball in between. This system can make startling improvements in component performance. The additional bodies are available by themselves at reduced price.

IDouble Stack Kit
Include Series 2 bodies only for "Double Stacking" series2+Rollerblock set

The conventional setup is to place the Rollerblock body on the support surface (which, again, must be non-resonant - glass, stone, plastic, etc. should not be used without a resonance mediating interface such as one of our platforms or, at minimum, a set of Point Pods). However, the "inverted configuration" offers enhanced performance by deployment of the Series 2 body placed upside down, with the ball bearing now on the bottom, and thus contacting the support surface. The improvements occur because the bottom matrix of the Series 2 body now directly contacts the chassis of the component, offering superior damping to the component and providing a better interface for high frequency energy drainage than only the tip of the ball itself. "Double Stacking" is the use of an additional set of Series 2 bodies placed on top of the balls, inverted, so as to form a "sandwich" of two bodies with a single ball in between. With rare exceptions, this is the highest performance setup configuration.

Introduction
Symposium Rollerblock Series 2+ is an equipment support system providing simultaneous coupling and decoupling of audio and video equipment. When properly installed, a set of Rollerblocks can increase overall system performance by an order of magnitude similar to a wholesale upgrade of the component it treats.

Utilizing technology employed in earthquake protection and combining it with proprietary mechanical transmission techniques, Rollerblocks are the most sonically beneficial coupling devices available. Used beneath digital equipment, DVD players, preamplifiers and other components, results can be nothing less than astonishing. Increased focus, soundstaging, image stability, dynamics and delicacy are just a few of the sonic delights awaiting the serious audiophile. When used with an effective equipment base (such as Symposium Platforms), the Series 2+ Rollerblock system provides an additional step toward ideal equipment support, which is simultaneous component isolation and drainage of chassis-borne vibration.

Symposium Rollerblock Series 2+ systems achieve their seemingly "magical" results by obeying laws of physics. Their strict manufacturing tolerances (much higher than usually found in an audiophile "tweak" device) are responsible for their world-wide reputation as the best ball-bearing isolation device available. Professional reviewers and private owners alike have spoken emphatically about the ability of Rollerblocks to enhance and improve the performance of virtually any component, including CD players, DVD players, digital transports, preamplifiers, amplifiers, and more.

Tungsten Carbide Balls Introduced to the High-End by Symposium
Symposium was the first to discover the importance of ball material for ball bearing isolation devices, and introduced the Tungsten Carbide ball upgrade in 1998, a year after the first Rollerblock system was sold. As opposed to chromium steel balls, Tungsten Carbide balls provide better bass, lower background noise, more definite imaging specificity, weight, and greater musical authority. Some have characterized chromium steel balls as sounding "brighter" or "faster" than Tungsten as an initial subjective judgment. "Brighter," yes; "faster," no. Transient response is not lessened with Tungsten Carbide, and this material ultimately sounds and is better because it preserves a more coherent "link" to the Rollerblock body than chromium steel or other materials, due to its combination of improved mechanical transmission and hardness. While many believe that the TC ball is better because it is harder, this is not really correct. While hardness is desirable to prevent deformation of the ball under stress, the hardness of the ball by itself is secondary to another, more important parameter, which is mechanical transmissivity. The transmission index of Tungsten Carbide is close to that of aluminum, which means that it makes an excellent match for the aircraft aluminum Rollerblock body. This critical "link" to mechanical ground is often overlooked, but is absolutely critical for proper results. If hardness alone were the critical aspect of ball performance in footer devices, then ceramic would be a superior material. It is decidedly not, and is markedly inferior to Tungsten Carbide, as our testing has demonstrated. This is an important point utterly missed by many footer manufacturers who mistakenly use ceramic balls in their products because it is "harder." Ceramic, while harder, does not share the matrix atomic structure of metals, which conduct vibration far more efficiently, and with less distortion. This is the point of using Tungsten Carbide - and never ceramic balls - in our Rollerblock products, and is a key reason why they are superior.

Precision Couplers/ each

$ 409
The Precision Coupler replaces our former Large Coupler to provide improved performance and convenience. Made of top-grade 7075 aircraft aluminum and precision machined to scintillating surface finishes, Precision Couplers are used to form an efficient mechanical connection to the components placed upon Symposium Platforms and Isis Rack levels, for effective damping of internal equipment resonances - an essential requirement for best results with vibration control devices. The high mechanical transmission efficiency of the aluminum alloy also provides an excellent transmission path for the evacuation of mechanical energy out of components and into a mechanical ground, where it can be absorbed and/or converted to heat energy.

All Symposium platforms work best with a good mechanical connection or pathway between the component's chassis and its top layer; soft materials, such as rubber or sorbothane, impede the transmission of mechanical energies. Think of the Precision Coupler as the mechanical equivalent of the theoretical "Straight Piece of Wire" in an electrical circuit: its sole purpose is to conduct mechanical energy without amplification, attenuation, or filtering. In this way, internal mechanical noise (vibration) can be conducted directly out of the component and into the Svelte Shelf, where these energies can be converted to harmless heat energy without added colorations. If your component already has built-in metal feet or has a flat bottom which will be placed directly upon the platform, or if you already have special footers for this purpose, then they are not necessary. Precision Couplers will not add any "harshness," will not exaggerate bass, or "spotlight" upper midrange. In other words, they are neutral. We recommend them if you don't have an alternate, suitable "footer" device, such as Symposium Rollerblocks, cones, or some other appropriate footer device.
